Portland is a planner’s mecca. Or is it? Visitors to the city are treated to postcard worthy scenes of light rail trains, streetcars and even an aerial tram gliding past renovated brick warehouses and gleaming glass towers. But at the regional level the picture is not so perfect.
About Rick Potestio
Richard Potestio is the principal of Potestio Studio, an architecture and design firm based in Portland, Oregon. Rick serves on the Design Museum Portland Advisory Board and is a a member of the design collaborative, pdXplore, a group that addresses environmental and design issues in the Portland region. He has served on the Gresham Design Commission, Metro Regional Government's Active Transportation Committee, and the Board of the Bicycle Transportation Alliance. He is a founding member of the Portland-Bologna Sister City Association where he has served on the board and as President. Rick has a BArch from the University of Oregon, and an MArch from Syracuse University (he studied urban design in Italy for a year). He has received AIA and ULI Awards for residential and planning projects and with other firms for projects in health care, and education.
Rick is an avid cyclist and the founder of the Rivercity Bicycles Cross Crusade ( cyclocross race series ). Rick is the founder/promoter of the Rivercity Bicycles Cross Crusade ( cyclocross race series ) and the Giro Di Portland Criterium.
